May 9th, 2003 : 1955 Chevy Chrome Knobs
When I was rewiring my truck and turned my attention to wiring the cigarette lighter and the headlight switch, the headlight switch presented a distraction -- I had purchased a 1954 headlight switch knob to match the cigarette lighter, but it didn't fit into the headlight switch I had ... also, I tried to get a windshield wiper knob to match, too, but with the electric conversion kit I did, it was "no go" ... so, there I was with three different knobs ruining the looks of my dash.
In short, I found a solution by purchasing a headlight switch and knob, wiper knob and cigarette lighter insert for a 1955 Chevy pickup from BrothersTrucks.com :: 1-800-977-2767. It turned out to be a grand solution, because the '54 knobs were black plastic, whereas the '55 knobs were heavy chromed steel -- better quality and much better looking, too! PS -- I also didn't like the position of the wiper-switch (on the top of the dash), so I moved it ... check out the looks of all-matching knobs:
NOTE!: Brothers Trucks has two versions of '55 Chevy knobs -- they look exactly the same, but one is plastic (ouch!) and one is heavy chromed steel. Naturally, you want the chromed steel knobs only! If you want to do as I did, be sure you order part number KNB9612 only!!!
