Shots of My Relocated Gas Tank

The stock gas tanks in these old Stovebolts were located in the cab, behind the seat!   They leaked onto the floor in ways that were undistinguishable -- except for the smell ... or if you dropped a cigarette back there it might suddenly become the 4th of July -- and of course the gas could be heard sloshing around while you drove.

All the trucks I viewed for sale before I bought this one, had the tanks in the original location and, had I bought one of those, it would've been my first project to relocate the tank.   Pretty much, everything I wanted to do to a truck was already taken care of with this one - including the relocation of the stock gas tank.   A 30-gallon tank was mounted where the spare tire rack was, and a filler neck was outfitted to the passenger-side fender.

Since the previous owner did all this, I don't know much about the details except that it's a 30-gallon tank and I sure am happy about it.   Other than that, I believe the tank was taken out of a mid-70s Cadillac.

They did a beautiful job outfitting the fender with a filler door, too!
