The first item on my agenda, was to to remove what I affectionately refer to as the OS "Hunk O'Junk" -- plastic on an acoustic instrument deserves just such a name -- first the cover ... then the buttons and aluminum chordbars ... and, finally, the combs and springs (left and right).
I also was glad to remove a little more plastic - the "sticky kid's stuff" (note-reference under the strings) ... fortunately, Oscar Schmidt must've known, because they made it very easy to remove!
And here she is ... naked as a newborn babe!
PS ... Regarding all my "Hunk O'Junk" statements above, please don't misunderstand me ... I don't intend to bash Oscar Schmidt here, folks! I have an endorsement with them and truly love their craftsmanship and ingenuity and it's easy to see that my 'harp is a very beautiful instrument! ... it's just not my preference to have so many chords, the mechanism is too noisy, and I just can't stand the idea of plastic on a wooden instrument! By the way, that's a Flame Maple top you're looking at ... with solid spruce back and sides.
