The Bible was penned by some 40 authors over a period of nearly 1,500 years ... but, in the truest sense, God is the one who designed and authored the message.
Whenever someone says that man wrote the Bible, they only reveal how willing they are to speak, as though they are an authority, about things they have absolutely no knowledge of. It's foolish.
If you take the time to truly look into the Scriptures, it soon becomes blatantly obvious that the men who wrote down the inspired Word of God couldn't possibly have had any idea about many of the things which they recorded. And you will also discover that what the Bible says about itself is true.
For prophecy never had it's origin in the will of man,
but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

At least 25% of the entire Bible is a matter of prophecy and every prophecy (except, of course, those which are yet future) has come to pass with 100% accuracy. One of the most powerful ways God has of showing mankind that His Holy Scriptures were inspired by Him alone ... and from outside the dimension of time ... was to show mankind that He knows the end from the beginning. And He does so in a number of ways.
Aside from using prophecy, and aside from using what may be called hidden prophecies (see drop-down menu at the bottom of this page), God has placed many descriptions in the Bible which define things that would eventually become scientific discoveries and historical events.

Man's Discoveries Revealed In Advance
Planktons: The Oceans Highways | Psalm 8:8
In the 1800s, when Dr. Matthew Fontaine Maury was reading Psalm 8:8, he decided to take God's Word literally and to search for these paths of the seas that are mentioned there. Not only did he discover them, but he changed the course of history in the process. Todays oceanliners all make their journeys on oceanic highways known as planktons. One such highway, known as the Cromwell Current, travels more than 13,000 miles through the Pacific Ocean ... and another, the Florida Current, maintains more than 4,000 times the flow of the Mississippi River. This information was sitting there in the Bible for more than 2,000 years before it was discovered by someone who took God's Word seriously.
The Discovery of Germs | Numbers 19:17-18
Over 3,400 years ago God gave instructions in His Word for washing with fresh water, using hyssop and the ashes of a red heiffer. Fresh (running) water doesn't hold germs ... the ashes of a red heiffer contains lye which kills germs ... and hyssop contains antibacterial agents. Did man know what he was doing? No. But God did. It wasn't until 1890 that scientists discovered germs for the first time. Before that, surgeons never washed their hands and the number of deaths ocurring in hospitals were very high because of infection.
Circumcision on the Eight Day After Birth | Genesis 17:12
Medical science has only recently discovered that when an infant is eight days old there is more Vitamin K and prothrombin present in the blood than on any other day or at any other time. This means a much better healing process; faster blood coagulation and less pain during and after the procedure. But God's Word revealed this fact over 3,900 years ago.
Entropy: The Increase of "Unavailable Energy" | Psalm 102:25-26 & Romans 8:21
Today, scientists know that entropy a.k.a. "unavailable energy," is constantly increasing and that the universe is in a state of continual decay ... corruption ... waxing old. The earliest public knowledge about this idea was proven by Rudolf Clausius around 1850 ... but it was there in the Bible as early as 2,300 years ago, in the Book of Psalms ... and over 1,900 years ago, in the Book of Romans.
The Character of the Planet | Job 26:7 & Isaiah 40:22
At the time these Scriptures were penned, everyone believed that the earth was flat ... but notice how Isaiah describes the circle of the earth. And previously, they thought the earth was a shell sitting on the back of a turtle which was perched on the back of an elephant ... or that it was hanging from a rope ... or resting on the shoulders of the Greek god, Atlas. With that kind of mindset, could man have been the author of the Scriptures noted above?
Pleiades, Orion and Arcturus | Job 38:31-32 1. God asks Job if he can bind the sweet influences of Pleiades; if he is capable of holding Pleiades together. As it turns out, we now know that the seven stars of Pleiades are truly a grouping of 250 suns that are all traveling together in one common direction. And, after all, God was saying to Job, Well, I can! 2. God asks Job if he can loose the bands of Orion, referring to the three stars which appear to be fixed in a rigid, straight line and form what is called the belt of the constellation. We have now discovered that these three stars are not fixed and are being loosed, if you will, and will eventually move out of their positions. And, after all, God was saying to Job, Well, I can! 3. God asks Job if he is capable of guiding Arcturus ... as if to ask if he could possibly do anything to change it's direction. It has always been believed that Arcturus was a fixed star ... but we now know that Arcturus is in fact a runaway star, traveling at 257 miles per second ... and the combined attraction of every star we know of couldn't create enough force to turn Arcturus in its path! And, after all, God was saying to Job, Well, I can!
The Neutron Bomb | Zechariah 14:12
Some 2,800 years ago, the prophet Zechariah describes something that certainly had no relationship to anything he could've known himself -- the precise effects of a neutron bomb! Flesh, eyes, and tongues dissolve while people are still standing on their feet ... something that could never be realized until very recently.

Crucifixion As A Form of Execution | Psalm 22:16 & Zechariah 12:10
Both these Scriptures mention Jesus being pierced ... and yet crucifixion, involving the piercing of hands and feet, was not even remotely known as a form of execution until 700 years after Psalm 22 was written ... and 800 years after Zechariah was written.
