I wrote this song about my sister ... during a very serious Jersey thunderstorm. Her name isn't Caroline ... it's just that "Caroline" sings so nicely! I guess it's one of those why-don't-you-grow-up-already kind of things -- "Don't you think you oughta know by now, how to find your own way home?" She loves all my songs, but she thinks this one sucks. BTW ... my mom had triplets. I have five older sisters; six mothers, in effect. 18 girlfriends ... but that's a different song.
I wrote "Caroline" during a late-night, autumn storm ... no rain ... just big, black skies, and thunderous bellows rolling across the expanses ... and warm, balmy gusts of unannounced winds passing this way and that, throughout the room.
I believe this was the first song I wrote on my Washburn guitar.
