18-inch & 14-inch Grover/Trophy Bodhrans

These are my Grover/Trophy 18-inch and 14-inch bodhrans.   I bought them from MusiciansFriend.com after receiving a fifty-dollar MusiciansFriend.com gift certificate from Elixir Strings for evaluating a new line of strings.   These certainly are not quality instruments, by any means ... but even a cheap-o set of bodhrans sound better than a drum machine!   My first attempt at playing these can be heard on The Departure of Boromir, from The 'Rings Project CD ... I used the 14-inch bodhran and just played with my hands and fingers -- no sticks.

Santana Egg Shaker & O'Neill Bones

I bought the Santana Egg Shaker at Guitar Center one day.   It can be heard on several songs from the Kingdom Come CD and/or The 'Rings Project CD ... it's a handy accent-maker whenever I'm recording.

I bought the O'Neill Bones for my Dad, back around 1980.   I met O'Neill at a gig in Oneonta, New York ... he had a pair of these, and when I asked him about them, he said he makes them himself from cow ribs ... my Dad was pretty good at playing spoons, so I thought he'd enjoy these, and I purchased a pair.   I haven't played them on any songs yet, but they're waiting in the studio for the inspiration to strike.
